Description
The Art of Lent is a visual and spiritual companion for the Lenten season, inviting the reader to engage with forty carefully selected works of art, one for each day from Ash Wednesday to Easter. Through painting and reflection, the book offers a contemplative path into the themes of suffering, hope, sacrifice, and redemption.
Each day pairs a full-colour artwork with a short meditation that draws out its emotional and spiritual depth. The reflections encourage the reader to look more closely, to notice what is often overlooked, and to encounter Christian truth through image as well as word. The selected artworks span periods and styles, from well-known masterpieces to less familiar works, each chosen for its ability to speak into the Lenten journey.
The meditations are organised around varied spiritual themes, including joy, courage, tranquillity, repentance, and sacrifice. Rather than offering definitive answers, they invite prayerful attention and quiet pondering, making the book well suited to daily reflection throughout Lent, Holy Week, and Easter.
Richly illustrated with four-colour reproductions, The Art of Lent brings together beauty, faith, and thoughtful reflection, helping the reader see both Christian art and the Easter mystery with renewed depth.
A reflective and visually engaging companion for Lent.
