The Caeli Studios Origin Story

The Caeli Studios Origin Story

Hi friends!

Now that we've told you the origin story of Surrender Gifts, it's time to tell you a bit more about Caeli Studios, our sister store (as promised).

If you'd like to learn about the symbolism of the brand, I'd recommend heading over to the pinned posts on our Instagram page (@caelistudios - and while you're at it make sure you follow @surrendergifts too!). But to give you the abridged version - Caeli Studios was born out of a desire to bring beauty back to the faith in South Africa.

When you walk through the streets of an old town, you'll often see incredible beauty in the mundane. Street poles with elaborate sculptures, architecture that makes your jaw drop, even door knobs are a sight to behold! Much of that has been sacrificed for the sake of efficiency and expedience in the modern world. But there's something so special about seeing craftsmanship and thought and attention in the world around you. Thankfully, God thinks the same way and He has created a magnificent world of splendour for us to enjoy and learn from.

Caeli Studios is a love letter to the Creator. Every time we put a small bouquet of flowers in front of a statue of Mary in our home, or we put up a piece of Christian art on our wall, or we fix a crack in a church’s stained glass window or we put a little bit of extra effort into the clothing we wear to Mass - we show God a small sign that we love and appreciate Him. The added effort of beauty is an underrated sign of respect for a King. Not to mention - how much more likely are you to journal if you have a beautiful notebook to write in? Beauty draws us into the faith and draws us closer to God.

So when my big sister (and Confirmation Sponsor) asked us to form part of Surrender Gifts and bring some modern day beauty to the faith, how could we say no?

The Church is filled with some of the world’s most beautiful artistry and our hope is that Caeli will allow you to bring a small piece of that beauty (with a modern twist) into your homes and your lives. May it be a constant reminder of the beauty and love God brings into our world each day.

Thank you for joining us on this journey of Truth, Goodness and Beauty.
