The Advent season marks the beginning of the Christian year — a four-week journey of hopeful anticipation, reflection, and love as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s birth.
“Advent” comes from the Latin adventus, meaning “coming.” It points both to Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem and to His promised return. For centuries, the Church has observed this sacred time through prayer, Scripture, and the lighting of candles that symbolise hope, peace, joy, and love.
In our fast-paced world, Advent calls us to pause. Before the joy of Christmas morning came generations of faithful waiting — hearts anchored in the promise of a Messiah.
