Happy New Year! For Catholics and many Christians, Advent marks the beginning of the liturgical year. It is a time of preparation for the coming of Christ.
A Blessing for your Advent Wreath
Father, all powerful Lord of Light, bless our wreath of evergreens. May the increasing light of these candles brighten our minds and hearts to be steadfast in faith, joyful in hope and untiring in love, so that we are ready again to receive in true peace, Jesus the light of the world, who lives and reigns with you for ever and ever. Amen.
Week 1 Reflection: The Candle of Hope
Advent begins withΒ hopeΒ βΒ the quiet, steady confidence that God keeps His promises.
This week invites us to look toward the light of Christ, even when the world feels uncertain.
Scripture for reflection:
- Isaiah 9:2Β βΒ βThe people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.β
- Romans 15:13Β βΒ βMay the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.β
- Luke 1:26β38Β β Maryβs courageous βyesβ to Godβs plan.
As you pray with these verses, consider:
Where is God inviting you to hope again?
What darkness in your life needs His light this Advent?

A Short Kiddiesβ Reflection
This week, we light theΒ Hope candle.
Hope means waiting for something good because we trust Jesus loves us.
You can say:Β βJesus, help me to trust You and to wait for You with a happy heart.β
This week, draw a little candle, or make one out of coloured paper, to remind you that Jesus is our light.

May your Advent be a season of quiet reflection and renewed faith.
Stay tuned each week as we explore the four candles of Advent:
Week 1 β Hope | Week 2 β Peace | Week 3 β Joy | Week 4 β Love
